Extra Life Reveal ‘Made Flesh’ Details

Crazy talented (and just straight crazy) Brooklyn band Extra Life, have just revealed details about their second full-length, Made Flesh. Made Flesh will be hitting stores in March, courtesy of Loaf Records. For those unfamiliar with the band, Extra Life isn’t your normal Brooklyn act. Think of a far more experimental and heavy Dirty Projectors, with a hint of Tyondai Braxton’s latest release, to keep up with the Brooklyn theme. The band’s debut record, Secular Works, is a psychotic masterpiece; bathing in awkwardly odd-tempo songs, all accompanied by Charlie Looker’s delicate voice. This is the newest project of Charlie Looker, who at one time was in Dirty Projectors, and at another point in Zs.
The new record is said to have a softer side, while also keeping up with their heavy, experimental side. Made Flesh will also explore some aspects of psychedelia, along with some synths and electronic textures. In anticipation for the record, the band has re-released “Black Hoodie” a track from their split with the always wonderful Nat Baldwin, who I featured on The Tape a while ago. Although the band will be re-imagining/re-recording it for the record, they’ve re-released the original for now. “Black Hoodie” is on a split with an upright bass player, so this track is definitely one of the quietest and calmest the band has ever produced. Check it out below.
