These New Puritans Announce New Album

Another post, another Domino Records release. The record label is poised to kill it 2010, with releases from Four Tet, Final Fantasy, and now These New Puritans. The insane British group are following up ’08’s Beat Pyramid with Hidden, set to hit stores February 2nd of 2010. I don’t know much about the album, other than that it’s mixed by a dude who worked with J Dilla, so that’s a good start. The album sounds like it’s going to be pretty insane, especially based on the press release. Check this out: Hidden features six-foot Japanese Taiko drums, a thirteen piece brass and woodwind ensemble, sub-heavy beats, prepared piano, a children’s choir, Foley recording techniques (including a melon with cream crackers attached struck by a hammer), and the ethereal voice of Heather Marlatt from dream-pop group Salem.
At the very least, the album should be interesting, although I’m expecting a lot more from it. As soon as a first single is announced, I’ll be sure to post it, so make sure to keep alert. Check out the tracklist, and download a track from their first record.
