A bit weak on the band name side of things, but what they lack in a creative name they make up for with killer songs. Christy & Emily are a female Brooklyn duo, who are making some rad psychedelic/chilled out folk/pop music. It’s hard to generalize the duo, but that’s what I came up with, although it does their music no justice. Their second record, Superstition is coming out next Tuesday (the 17th), and I highly recommend you pick it up when it gets released. Kid Millions from Oneida did some drums for the record, so you know it’s good. The duo have a pretty interesting background as well. Emily Manzo is a classically trained pianist, and Christy Edwards is a self taught punk guitar player, so you can imagine the contrast between these two. The contrast proves to be more good than evil, as they make brilliant music together. “Lover’s Talk” is the single I’m allowed to give away, and it’s a pretty great one. A haunting, down-tempo track, “Lover’s Talk” gives you a good idea of what’s on the album, but it doesn’t come close to defining it. Download it below, and check out the tracklist as well. Enjoy!
