Polychromatic!

I’m a sucker for over the top, giddy, fun, pop music. Especially the kind full of chiptune like synths and Mattel percussion freaking out on acid. Before, it was David E Sugar’s “We Weren’t Put Together” that satisfied this primal love for the most sugar laced and candy coated of pop. Now, however, I have Polychromatic! Following in the footsteps of the aforementioned, his tracks are comprised of the most ecstatic and enjoyable of elements and full of melodies that will forcibly jam themselves into your brain. Oh and he uses breakbeats. I’m partial to “At My Parties I’m The Only One Dancing” This song is the most accurate representation of a sugar rush in musical form I’ve heard in a long long time. It has so much going for it that I can’t help but wish I could hear the vocals more. This could be due to the fact that the dude records with a Rock Band mic, which, as our own Willie Schube said, seriously ups his indie cred. Regardless I want to hear his voice in its pristine and hopefully a little bit awkward and geeky glory. The other song, “Good Enough” is less spastic in its presentation of pure pop, filling up the gaps between 32nd notes with a bit of glitch and breakage, plus some more discernible (but sadly more autotuned) vocals. On the whole, Polychromatic! has a whole bedroom full of talent for crafting the most vicerally appealing pop music that’s not afraid to just go all out and fill your ears full of a concession stand sized candy explosion. I hope he goes far in life, and gets a better microphone (if he hasn’t already).
