Ida Walked Away

AU hail from Portland, Oregon, and make the kind of music that’s pretty hard to come up with a description for. Elements of pop music, combined with an experimental side, create a really nice middle ground for this duo. “Ida Walked Away” is the first single from their upcoming EP, Versions, which you can pick up October 8th.
“Ida Walked Away” starts out with a folk sounding guitar line, complimenting Luke Wyland’s voice nicely. Layers and layers of instruments slowly come in, adding a little something to his voice each time. The song progresses like this for a while, until we reach a pattern where the song leaves its form, only to return again with more added instruments. A drum breakdown leads us to the outro, which really isn’t much more than a wall of noise. Nothing terrible, but I would have loved to see them take the song to a new place, as opposed to just fading out. The duo will be hitting the road, touring with WHY?, and some on their own as well. Check out “Ida Walked Away”, it’s a really nice track.
