Ghost Clock

Lymbyc Systym was a duo previously not on my radar, but after listening to “Ghost Clock” over and over and over again, I have now surrounded myself with the beauty that is this track. The first one and a half minutes or so are beautifully layered guitars, filtering in and out with the electronic equivalent of tribal drums. Another guitar line enters the song, slowly building it until it all drops out, and then back in again. As the song reaches its climax (or so you think), the track takes a greatly unexpected turn, moving into a double time feel. The sound of seagulls enter, along with an Interpol sounding guitar line. The song has a more uptempo feel to it from this point on, but it still has this melancholy aspect to it.
Reminiscent of a less epic, American M83, brothers Jared and Michael Bell are a band to watch for. An instrumental duo bound to make it big, I’m eagerly anticipating their upcoming album, Shutter Release, which y’all can expect November 3rd. Sorry if I’m talking as if they’re a new band (this will be their 4th album), they’re new to me and I’m very excited by this recent discovery. Thanks to RCRD LBL for the track.
