Micachu and the Shapes

Micachu (pronounced mee-cah-chew) is Mica Levi. She’s 21 years old and already making fuzzed-up, lo-fi pop tunes that warm the soul. She (and her band) signed to Rough Trade Records in January and released their debut album, Jewellery, a few months later. Her instrumentation is as cute as her music, sometimes using a vacuum cleaner or glass bottle to produce some unique sounds. “Golden Phone” is their sound at its finest. Almost like if Bjork took her music one step further, creating an accessible blend of true and tested pop that is soothing in every ounce and makes you want to get on your feet. Look for some pretty big things from them in the future.
