Heavy Cloud Hustle

Blind Man’s Colour create a kind of psychedelic pop resembling that of Animal Collective, but with a lo-fi/bedroom vibe. The catchy, quirky, odd melodies are present, but the band creates music that doesn’t “pop” nearly as much as Animal Collective’s. It’s far more calm, but just as hypnotizing. One thing I really like about these guys is the way all of their songs blend together. It seems as though every song on the album has a purpose, and that’s something you don’t get a lot in music these days. The duo play a type of pyschedelic bedroom pop that sounds far from amateur, but still has the comfortable nature that is received when listening to that lo-fi/bedroom type music. A stand out track to me is “Heavy Cloud Hustle”, which is the second track on their album, Season Dreaming. The album comes out on August 18th, on Kanine Records. “Heavy Cloud Hustle” has been playing constantly on my computer, attracting me with the poppy yet interesting instrumentation. The song features layers and layers of instruments, which in accompaniment with the vocals, create a fantastic track.
Kyle Wyss and Orhan Chettri are still teenagers and go to different colleges, but still found a way to create one of my favorite releases of 2009. This was truly a fantastically pleasant surprise. Pre-order the album here (LP or CD). Check the boys out on Myspace, and download “Heavy Cloud Hustle” below.
