You may recognize Fools Gold from a number of different sources… Maybe it was our Snow In Los Angeles festival (they played). Maybe you mistook the title for a compilation track featuring all of A-Trak’s record label. Or maybe, you actually know which Fools Gold I am talking about. Fools Gold started as a Foreign Born side project, but is starting to move away from the side and becoming more and more like a great band with every song they release. Their upcoming album is set to be released September 29th on IAMSOUND Records, who have been putting out fantastic releases lately. Anyways, the band has a very strong “Latin” vibe to it, with a hint of pop to it. You can hear some Foreign Born in their sound, but it’s still very different from Foreign Born’s sound.

The first single, “Surprise Hotel” is a summertime classic that sort of reminds me of The Very Best’s “Warm Heart Of Africa”. The song gets better and better as it goes along, with handclaps and harmonies being added for flavor. The song kicks it into a new gear at about 4 minutes in, when everything has a double time (ish) feel to it. I highly recommend this track if you’re looking for something summer-y. (even if you’re not, I still recommend it) Enjoy the MP3 below.
