Brotherhood Crusade

Brotherhood Crusade is Zeke Wattles, a friend of The Tape and fellow LA-based musician. Using LSDJ and ProTools to make his music, Zeke constructs some really interesting GameBoy laden jams. If Anamanaguchi is chiptune power pop, Brotherhood Crusade his chiptune trip hop, with songs sounding more like a fuzzed-out Massive Attack than an electronic Andrew W.K. That’s for his original work, but there’s also some mashup work in there. A big contradiction: the vocals from MSTRKRFT’s “Bounce” over comparatively soothing Kraftwerk beats. It works out quite nicely, as does his remix of Beastie Boys’ “We Got The.” The again takes a chiptune approach, and the result is great. He released an EP of works, entitled Old Shit, which you can download for free here.

Thought you might be interested that DiS managed to have a chat with Beastie Boys last week, have a read of what they said here http://drownedinsound.com/in_depth/4137232-boys-will-be-boys–beastie-boys-talk-hot-sauce-committee-pt-1.
My favourite quote from it is
“You could get in the shower one day and, boom, all of a sudden you’re showered with MP3s.”
