Trailer Trash Tracys

Hailing from London, England, Trailer Trash Tracys are my latest lo-fi obsession. The only song I’ve heard is “Strangling Good Guys”, which is absolutely fantastic. It starts off with a wall of noise… Layered guitars complimenting each other nicely, while the bass keeps everything steady, looping the melody. The vocals don’t act as much of a lead, more as a compliment to the instruments. The multiple vocals lead really nicely into the chorus, which is essentially an extension of the verse. The song seems to go on like this until it ends, but it is in no way boring. It tends to draw me in and not release me until the song is over. At which point, I try to wrap my head around what I just listened to. Pardon the metaphorical bullshit. Anyways, this first single is fantastic and I can’t wait for the 7″ to come out. Speaking of which, it comes out May 25th on the record label No Pain In Pop. The double a-side record features the songs “Candy Girl” and “Wish You Were Red.” Keep a look out for that. They have a whole bunch of tour dates coming up in London, including a show with Tape favorites, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart. Check them out on Myspace here.

I agree that this band has something interesting going on, but anyone taking cues from the theme song for Twin Peaks gets a few points automatically.
I went to see them play at a NoPainInPop launch on Saturday, unfortunately the label decided to host the gig in someone’s makeshift bar in a flat (complete with home-made urinals!?!) and as a result there was no stage and some rubbish PA, they played about three songs and it sounded like arse. I like the label and the venue was good DIY fun but it just did their acts no justice.
