Sissy Wish is the next big female artist to come out of Europe. We’ve recently had Lykke Li, and even more recently we’ve had Little Boots from England… And now it’s Sissy Wish’s turn.

Coming from Norway, she has a very high pitched voice that seems to get lower as the song progresses. Her voice bothers me a little in the beginning, but when the chorus kicks in, her voice turns from slightly annoying to infectious, and all previous opinions on her voice are erased. There is something about this song that really pulls me in. I think it may be the descending chord progression that prefaces the chorus, which really helps make the song as good as it is.

The song really gets good when the breakdown hits, which is just waiting to explode back into the chorus. She has a nice yelping harmony, that really pushes the breakdown into the chorus, at which point I’m sold that Sissy Wish is going to be the next big thing (even Pitchfork gave her album an 8.0). Her album comes out June 16th on Afternoon Records, and you can pre-order the physical cd here. The physical pre-order also comes with the mp3 version, which you can listen to right now. If you don’t do cd’s anymore, you can just purchase the mp3′s, which you can listen to immediately as well. Enjoy “Dwts” from the upcoming album, Beauties Never Die.
