Popo

Popo are the first rock act signed to Mad Decent, which consists of three brothers from Philadelphia. The trio makes a unique form of garage rock, that barely ever lasts three minutes. Their first 7″, features “Kill Tonight” and “Feel Good Song of the Year”, both of which are very short and very catchy. Neither of the songs feature very much singing at all, but when vocals do come in, the melodies are extremely catchy and well thought out.
Popo created a big buzz at SXSW, playing a fantastic show at the Fader Fort. They’ve opened for The Black Lips, Dark Meat, and Nine Inch Nails. Here’s how the press release described their first encounter with label head, Diplo:
“They started showing up at the Mad Decent mausoleum for all night practice sessions, battling Diplo to see who could work the longest (I think POPO won).”
I guess this got them signed to Mad Decent. Anyways, you can pick up the 7″ here, and download one of the tracks below. Enjoy!
