Glasser

Glasser is a fantastic experimental electronic band made up of female vocalist Cameron Mesirow. The one thing that really impresses me about her is the use of her voice as an instrument. For example, in the song “Glad”, there is that noise in the background that kids always make… You know the one where you put your hand over your mouth and it sounds like a really funny way of saying “girl.” She also does a tremendous job of layering vocals and harmonies, as instrumentation and not vocals. These harmonies really blend in with the instrumentation, almost to the point where I wouldn’t even classify them as vocals anymore.
My favorite song on the EP, “Apply” features amazing sounding drums, and vocals reminiscent of Karen O. She even adds some shrieks as well. I posted a Bell song on here a while back, this song also reminds me of that. Once she starts singing the melody and the drone-ish synths come in, this song reaches a new place. Her tremendous vocals really carry the song, until the drum breakdown comes in. At this point, the song is fucking awesome… Not much else can be said. More vocal harmonies come in, which are absolutely beautiful as well. Check out the track below. Pre-order the album here, and check her out on Myspace.
