Diplo’s Mad Decent Partners With Downtown Music

Just announced a couple of days ago, Diplo’s Mad Decent is partnering up with Downtown Records, to release a whole lot of new music. Along with Switch and Turntable Lab founder Jasper Goggins, Diplo plans to expand Mad Decent into more genres of music, including the first ever Mad Decent rock act. The Philadelphia punk band, Popo have signed to Mad Decent, and already released a 7″. I heard the 7″ a couple of days ago, and it sounds fantastic. Anyways, here’s what Josh Deutsch, the head of Downtown said about the partnership:
I am extremely excited about Downtown’s partnership with Diplo and the Mad Decent label. Diplo is one of the most multi-faceted and innovative artists in music today. An artist, producer, DJ, tastemaker and cultural icon, Diplo’s influence and vision will continue to shape the musical landscape in the coming years. With Mad Decent, he has already created a forward-thinking label and culture, incorporating the best talent and creative resources with innovative business models that reflect a rapidly changing market. I am confident the Mad Decent/Downtown joint venture will afford Diplo and his excellent team the opportunity to continue to grow the Mad Decent brand in its own unique way, drawing on Downtown’s marketing, promotion, publishing and licensing resources to achieve tremendous successes.
I’m really excited to see the new direction Mad Decent takes after this announcement. Enjoy a Diplo remix below.

Nice mix and good news too. On a side note, I’m perplexed by mp3s that are not mashups labeled “vs” yet I see this more and more. If this isn’t someone else mashing Diplo, shouldn’t the mp3 read: “Bloc Party-Where Is Home (Diplo remix)”?
