Cas One is a great independent/underground rapper from Kentucky. His first and only solo album, Liberation was re-released April 7th. The album starts off with a bang, with the second track being “Masked Moniker (Pop Eulogy)”, which really displays all of his talents. This song has sharp lyrics, really nice flow, a great hook, and a wonderful beat. CasOne even got the great Brother Ali to rap on one of his tracks, which is a stand out as well. That track is called “Flashbacks” and is really great as well. Here’s a little bit of a background on the young Kentucky rapper:
CasOne grew up in Northern Kentucky, always wanting to make it big in hip hop. Now 25 years old, he has a wide range of influences. Some of those are UGK, Ratatat, Cold War Kids, and Okkervil River, just to name a few. He’s opened for Immortal Technique, Atmosphere, along with many others. He’s currently working on his next project which will feature no samples and will feature P.O.S. of Rhymesayers. He’s going to do a 25-city tour in September. Check out the two previously mentioned tracks below, and check out CasOne on Myspace. Pick up the mp3 version of the album right here from Insound.
