Pitchfork Announces First Batch of Bands For Festival

Everyone’s favorite music website, Pitchfork just announced the first group of bands for their stellar music festival. Taking place in Chicago’s Union Park from July 17th-19th (tickets go on sale March 13th), this festival is going to be fantastic. For the past couple of years, the Friday night has always been dedicated to bands playing their most influential albums, but this year, they’ve decided to switch things up. Instead of having GZA play all of Liquid Swords for example, they’ve decided to have fans pick the setlist’s for Friday nights’ bands, which include Yo La Tengo, The Jesus Lizard, Tortoise, and Built to Spill. The concept is fantastic, and the bands playing are really cool as well. While this is exciting, I find Saturday and Sunday to be far more exciting. Here’s what the lineup looks like as of now:
Friday - “Write the Night: Set Lists by Request”
Built to Spill
The Jesus Lizard
Yo La Tengo
Tortoise
Saturday
The National
Pharoahe Monch
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart
Sunday
Grizzly Bear
The Walkmen
Vivian Girls
Keep in mind that this is just the first announcement, and more bands will be added. Sunday’s going to be absolutely amazing.
The National- So Far Around The Bend
The Pains of Being Pure at Heart- Everything With You
Vivian Girls- Where Do You Run To
Grizzly Bear- Little Brother (Electric) (No Veckatimest yet, I fear the web sheriff).
