Big in ‘09: Little Boots

Little Boots is Victoria Hesketh. She’s been working a lot with Hot Chip’s Joe Goddard and Greg Kurstin (Lily Allen’s prodcuer, among others) to produce some top grade pop songs. The stunning originals combined with some killer remix work from Fake Blood, Designer Drugs and Treasure Fingers have placed her very high on the blogospherical radar. She currently has two singles out, “Stuck On Repeat” and “Meddle.” The former features an infections synthline and great vocal hooks. The latter is a bass heavy, full-fledged pop song. Prime for top 40, but keeping some great elements of the indie/electronica sound. She won BBC’s Sound of 2009 Award and she’s ready to break out with a lot buzz surrounding her live show at CMJ and in LA two weeks ago. She’s certainly ready to blow up.

Be sure to listen to the Piano & Tenori-On version of Meddle to see what this woman is really capable of. The single release of Meddle is great, but it’s a bit overproduced IMHO, whereas her EP version gets right to the core of it and her voice sounds even better.
