Icy Demons

Icy Demons are a side project of Man Man’s Christopher Powell and Bablicon’s Griffin Rodriguez. They released their third album in 2007, entitled Miami Ice, available only in Japan on Easel Records. Everyone in and associated with Icy Demons has really clever pseudonyms. Griffin Rodriguez is also known as “Blue Hawaii” or “Tombstone G.” Chris Powell as “Pow Pow” or “Rick Dagger.” Rodriguez also runs a recording studio in Chicago where he has recorded many local bands. Anyhow, the title track off Miami Ice is quite fun. It begins with a nice distorted synthline, follwed by Mae Shi/Sigur Ros tom heavy drums. A little 8bit synth cues the vocals. Overall it has a very nice chiptune meets altrock feel. Enjoy the mp3 below.
