Guilty Music Monday #40

I’m openly admitting my love for My Chemical Romance today. Take it for what you will, but this shit is catchy. And for sure guilty as hell. The band is composed of Gerard Way, Mikey Way, Frank Iero, Ray Toro and Bob Bryar. I have to say I’m not entirely familiar with their early stuff (the 2002 debut I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love), which I guess makes me a bandwagon MCR fan. Fuck the haters. Their 2004 classic Three Cheers For Sweet Revenge is where they made their name. The three singles from that album are today’s feature. “I’m Not Okay (I Promise)” has blaring vocals, to the point of screaming. It blends elements of emo/screamo with early punk influences for a pretty nice result. “Helena” is an ode to Gerard’s late grandmother. It’s already a sad song, but the music video pushes it over the top into full on tragedy. “The Ghost of You” is my personal favorite. I’ve been in love with the song ever since I first saw the video. Honestly one of the coolest things I’ve ever seen. Watch the video and enjoy some mp3s below.

Yes, I’ve been quite reminiscent of MCR as well, along with The Used. I must have watched the Helena music video a million times. Good post. Everyone’s got some guilty music pleasure.
