Cassettes Won’t Listen

Cassettes Won’t Listen is a one man indie rock/electronic project by Jason Drake. I’ve had a bunch of Cassettes Won’t Listen on my Itunes for a while, but never really got around to listening to him, until very recently. The whole album was recorded in his own home recording studio, and features him on every single instrument. Here’s a little snippet from his Myspace page.
Cassettes Won’t Listen embodies an otherworldly and distinctive blend of electronica and indie rock, with comparisons being drawn to the Postal Service, Beck, Hot Chip, The Notwist, and DJ Shadow. His live show blasts at a frantic pace with Jason hopping from turntables to guitar to keys and vocals as a true one-man band.
I can’t tell if I enjoy his voice or if I can’t stand it, but I keep on listening to his music so I guess I like it. His voice on “Paper Float” sounds an awful lot like the guy from The Streets. The weird thing is is that the Streets guy is British, and Jason Drake is from New York.
I have a couple of songs and a video, so enjoy!
