The Tape

A † The Universe

Last night, Kwapis and I went to the Nike/Montalbán theater for a special screening of Justice’s tour documentary A Cross The Universe. The event doubled as the release for Busy P/So Me’s Air Force One. Busy P (producer), So Me and Roman Gavras (directors) introduced the film, and they were accompanied by Xavier and Gaspard afterwards.

When we got the invitation to the event, I watched the trailer to the film. I must admit, I was a bit dubious. It seemed like “To Protect and Entertain: The Movie.” Thankfully, “To Protect and Entertain” is a much fresher movie that it is a song. The film focused less on the actual live performances, but on the journey, and what happens to French people in America. The tour manager, Bouchon, becomes obsessed with buying guns, although his knowledge of gun laws is sub par. This eventually leads to an arrest in a restaurant. The bus driver, Roger, is entering the Guiness Book of World Records for “Lowest Note Sung” at 8 Hz. Gaspard gets a quickie marriage in Vegas, Xavier gets attacked by a drunken fan before their LA show, and DJ Mehdi goes skinny dipping. These are just a few on the antics in the movie, it’s recommended as a fun see when it comes out on DVD December 9th. The guys did a Q&A after the show, during which many people asked if they could fuck the legendary duo. While that was going on, we took some shitty phone pictures (below).
