The Gaslight Anthem

Hailing from New Jersey, The Gaslight Anthem are a wonderful combination of New Jersey’s hero, Bruce Springsteen, and some of the pop punk acts they’ve recently been touring with. At first listen, it’s obvious that Bruce Springsteen had some effect on them, but they’ve really re-created his sound into something fresh for a new generation. The opening track, “Great Expectations” features Bruce-like lyrics, but a pop punk chorus more like Rise Against, or Thrice. Coincidentally, they’ve been touring with both of these bands across America. I really enjoy these guys, because they’ve found a great common ground. They have driving, melodic choruses like a Rise Against or a Thrice, but the songs feature lyrics that aren’t so political and more fun, á la Bruce. I highly recommend these guys before they get huge, which I assure you they will. Here are a couple of tracks for your sampling pleasure. Enjoy!
