Kids Love Lies

Kids Love Lies came to life in November 2007 after I replied to an advert online from a band desperately seekinga singer! We instantly clicked, brought together by our love of bands like The Pixies, Siouxsie & the Banshees and Sleater Kinney!By January 2008 we had already recorded our first four track demo and played our first gig in London.Since then we’ve been playing across the UK and self released our first single ‘Switch Off’, in August, which received great support from Huw Stephens on his BBC introducing show on Radio One & was also chosen as single of the week on BBC Kent Introducing.We’ve also received continuously airplay from Tom Robinson on his BBC6 music show and on the Artrocker radio show.and have played with some great bands over the year, including Pop Levi, Fight Like Apes & The Ghost Frequency. A great highlight for them was being chosen to play on the New Band’s stage at this year’s Offset Festival and we are really looking forward to the festival season in 2009.We are planning to release a new single in early 2009 on a DIY label and are looking forward to having our first vinyls pressed!We love to play live and want as many people as possible to hear our songs so 2009 will be spent playing as many gigs as we can fit in, across the UK and beyond.
Sounding like a rough gem in the often similarly sounding Brit Post Punk scene, Kids Love Lies deliver short, catchy, jagged pop songs with the attitude and flair of such contemporaries as The Noisettes and the now disbanded and clear influence, Sleater Kinney. The single, Switch Off, leads with a stop start riff and follows with a chorus that makes me really want to see them live for the sheer jump-up-and-downiness of it. Hex paces itself a little slower but still manages to capture a youthful and spirited energy. Check them out on myspace and remember the name so in 3 months when they hit the cover of NME you can tell all your friends how cool you are. (in part for buying imported magazines, but in other part for knowing a sweet band.)
