Rumspringa

Rumspringa is a native Los Angeles duo made of one drummer (Itaru De La Vega) and one guitar player (Joey Stevens). Their music is a mix between folk and blues with rock music.It has something interesting about it, something indescribable which separates them from the rest of the rock that is coming out these days. Now they’re not re-inventing the wheel, but they have definitely figured out something that sounds good and sets them apart from the rest.
“Our inspirations range greatly; from Mississippi Fred Mcdowell, John Lee Hooker, Johnny Cash, Link wray, Canned Heat, Cream, Dylan, John Fahey and underground psychedelic pioneer Michael Yonkers.” Despite focusing mainly on blues and rock from the past, Rumspringa has a tender spot for old school hip hop and early gangster rap, such as Bone Thugs N Harmony, Eric B and Rakim, and Grandmaster Flash. Twisting the twelve bar blues construct with hip hop flavor is an example of how Rumspringa dives into creating a sound that is both familiar, yet unique and hard to describe.”- Sonic bids/Rumspringa.

Their music exhibits elements of classic rock, blues, and folk and is scattered with really interesting vocal melodies. The one thing about their music that is hard to argue or deny, is the fact that it is interesting… You don’t feel bored listening to it. This may not seem like much, but for being such mellow music it is a nice feat.
