Santogold really knows how to make the blog world happy. She has taken the internet by storm with an array of attacks. She has released an album with many potential singles, a song with N.E.R.D. and Julian Casblancas, and now has teamed up with Diplo to make a mixtape. Mine arrived yesterday, so pardon my lateness. Anyways, everything Diplo touches will turn to, or already is gold. Example: Kanye West- Flashing Lights (Diplo Remix) Don’t ask us how he does it, it just happens. This mixtape is no different. The blending between tracks is top quality, along with the track selection. A few of the tracks stand out, so if you don’t mind I will give them to you.
Probably my favorite song on this mixtape, Diplo puts an Amanda Blank rap over the vocals from Santogold’s “I’m A Lady.” This is one of my favorite Santogold songs, and Amanda Blank is awesome*. Santogold- I’m A Lady (Diplo Mix Ft Amanda Blank)
This song has nothing to do with Santogold, but it’s awesome. It’s one of Diplo’s global artists rapping over a Ratatat song. I really wish that this song was longer than 1:41 Richie Spice / Ratatat- Marijuana

We’ve reviewed a TPC show before. But this one was different. Oh so different. It was actually my fourth time seeing them, and this was clearly their best show. Musically, the guys were on top of it. The barreled through almost all their tracks. The only song they didn’t play off the top of my head was “Nursery, Academy.” That disappointed me slightly, as its one of my favorite tracks of Elephant Shell. But that didn’t matter in the slightest. Because unlike any show of theirs I’ve seen, this one was a dance party. The crowd got mad crazy. At one point Dave Monks (bass/vocals) honestly asked the crowd to “uhh… can you guys crowd surf a little less? thanks.” The crowd surfing didn’t stop. It looked like the guys were even a bit surprised at the crowd’s involvement. By the time they came out for an encore of “Cheer It On,” the place was an absolute madhouse. We actually had a chance to sit down with the guys before the show and get an interview, which Gabo will be posting soon. Enjoy that when it comes your way. Here are some photos of the crazy night.

I decided I would post a bunch of songs I’ve been listening to a lot lately, but have not found their way onto a post. This post is in honor of a fantastic move, The Dark Knight. In its honor, we are going to begin the mix with a track from the score. Enjoy!
The biggest band in London have found their way onto my Itunes, and I really enjoy this song. They haven’t released an album but the hype is surrounding them. Glasvegas- Flowers and Football Tops (Demo)

The first thing I noticed about Forward, Russia’s! latest disc is that they have eliminated the first upside-down exclamation from their name. Now they’re just Forward, Russia! The second thing I noticed is that these songs have names. A strange concept? For them it is, because all of their previous were numbered in the order they were written. The third thing I had noticed was that this album is really good. I am easily impressed, but I generally don’t listen to a whole album straight through. I pretend I have to much stuff to do to achieve that. But this album really kept me interested the whole time. As I was writing this, I just noticed something strange about the album art. On the cover, the two exclamations are feature but oddly under the artists name, they are nowhere to be found.
I really don’t know what kind of genre this band fits in, just because it’s so different. Some of the stuff is so heavy, but so melodic it really makes it hard to pin a label on them. I’ve mostly heard the word post-punk thrown at them, but I think thats inaccurate. His voice is too melodic and an instrument to be considered punk. I’m not saying that punk singers don’t have good voices, they just don’t use them as instruments like singer Tom Woodhead does. When I picture this band in my head, I think of an 8 piece crazy circus with everyone jumping around. I was surprised to find out there are only four members. The different noises they get with just four members makes me wonder what the point of a large band is. Anyways, I highly recommend this album, along with their first. Ben Sollee is a cellist/musician from Louisville, Kentucky and on his new album “Learning To Bend” he has succeeded in crafting a compendium of lyrically sharp, melodically moving, overall powerful set of tunes. The songs are acoustic works of art shifting from the simple and dry desire for honesty in “A Few Honest Words” to the bouncing tune of “Bury Me With My Car” it’s all there. I regret to inform you that I can’t summarize this album with 2 or 3 mp3s and leave it at that; you need all of this album and the piece in its entirety. This album is fantastic.

First of all, let me say that I am a huge Rhymefest fan. Blue Collar is a fantastic album and he’s a fantastic rapper. He hasn’t put out an album in a long time, or any new music for that matter. So as I was blog scanning today, I came across a post on Fake Shore Drive, that was from a guy that “stole” Rhymefest’s Ipod. Now some of the songs on this Ipod are from Rhymefest’s upcoming album, El Che. This album has been in the works forever, and kept on getting pushed back. So I decided to download the two songs supplied by this mystery robber. I am very against pirating music, and while I do consider this some type of pirating I will still buy the album. I feel very divided when listening to these two songs. One half of me saying that he hasn’t done anything to put out this new album, go ahead and listen. Then there is my other side saying that he is one of my favorite rappers, just wait until the album comes out even though that might be a long time. I in no way find Rhymefest a guilty pleasure, I am proud to enjoy his music but this situation is guilty.
