A-Trak – Running Man

Arguably the world’s best DJ, and Fool’s Gold’s main man, DJ A-Trak was called upon to do a Nike+ running mix for Nike and iTunes. He is in pretty good company, as the other artists who Nike and iTunes have commissioned are Cassius, the Crystal Method, Aesop Rock and LCD Soundsystem. Trizzy’s 45 minute workout is his closest work to a full-length album. When Nike asked A-Trak to create one of these mixes, he responded…
“I may as well say this up-front: I don’t really run. Yet when Nike asked me to do this track
I was smitten. It’s not as if I suddenly thought I’d start running my own marathons but there
was a musical challenge there and I got excited. I strapped on my sneakers. ”
Here’s an interesting way of looking at the tracklisting.
The mix starts off with the single Say Whoa. The vocals are actually A-Trak’s own pitched down a bunch. Bustle is a re-remix of “Hustler” by Simian Mobile Disco. My Time originally featured Lupe Fiasco, but for various reasons, he had to be replaced by Fool’s Gold up and comer Kid Cudi for the final release. This mix is truly great whether it be for a workout or just general listening. Mad props, Trizzy.
