Willie is once again unable to do his flagship segment, it is such that I take the reins and give you. Guilty Music Monday #17.

First up we have a classic track from 1982 in the form of The Safety Dance. If you don’t know it by know then you clearly have been deprived and need to go watch one of the greatest music videos of all time.
Secondly we have a more obscure guilty pleasure: Flobots - Handlebars. It’s really only guilty because the dudes sound like Linkin Park and other than that it’s an excellent piece of music with quality lyrics (even if a bit too political reform for me) and good orchestration.
Finally I have something special to give to the world. I don’t know what to say other than this: It’s the Pokemon TV Show theme…In French. Enjoy.

So if you’ve been keeping hip to the HypeMachine lately, you’ve probably noticed that HypeMachine users go batshit over MGMT and Justice. Well lucky for them, a remix has been produced that’ll be sure to break the Hype charts. The remix itself is pretty much what you’d expect from Justice - driving bass synth, filtered vocals. Its nice though, a fresh take on the MGMT track. Andrew Vandouchegarden would be proud. (Note: No serious offense intended to Mr. VanWyngarden)
MGMT - Electric Feel (Justice Remix)

The Tape is back with a second installment of Press Play on Muxtape once again curated by myself, Gzabriel. The tunes are varied and dabble in pounding drums and fireplace warm synths. I think you’ll like it. Oh and Skatterbrain posted the cutest video of all time ever. Red pandas rule.

Don’t turn down this Red Panda and go to muxtape right now.

Perhaps the most highly anticipated segment in tape history, Katzenstein Weekly, is back for its second rendition. This week the brothers Jeremy and Jason have provided me with two covers. One of Justin Timberlake, the other of Flight of the Conchords.
Jeremy and Jason Katzenstein - SexyBack (Justin Timberlake Cover)
The modern pop classic is given a homestyle spin.
Jeremy and Jason Katzenstein - Leggy Blonde (Flight of the Conchords Cover)
Slightly different from the original, Jeremy’s harmonies are absolutely unbeatable.
Until next week, enjoy the music.

No that title is not an attack on anyone we know in particular, nor does it imply a searing critique of particular party pic a la HRO. But rather, it is the name of a track off the soon to be released “Rocktronica” sent to us by Dj Doc Rok who has been mentioned here before. In this case it is a collaboration with an artist by the moniker Oh Snap!! who makes scene concious, self aware, dance quasirap for hipsters of all colors of the American Apparel rainbow to enjoy. The track is Indie Hipster Douchebag and like previous posts on songs talking about Indie kids/Hipsters/Douchebags it details the behavior of such a character in an easy to digest song format with a computer voice, a little synth, and some stabs for a beat to round off the song. Grab it now.

Mr. William Scube has no sense of vocabulary. That’s why I’m writing this week’s GMM. I’m gonna do something this week that hasn’t been done before. Today I have for y’all - a guilty DJ set. DJ AM is probably best known for his high profile girlfriends and general douchebaggery. However, friends of the blog Daniel Tator and Mason Westfall have recently introduced me to the magic that is…

DJ AM - Live @ Banana Split
There’s some pretty incredible shit that goes on in this here set. I recommend listening to the entire thing. It’s well worth it.
The only have one song this week, but its one that has been missing from this segment for too long.

R. Kelly - Iginition (Remix)
I don’t think anyone has ever heard the non remix version. Anyone. Ever.
Well that’s it for this week’s GMM. Hope I did a passable job. Willie’ll be back next week.
