The Bake Sale

Not only is the bake sale an everyday commodity at Oakwood School, but its also a new EP by up and coming Chicago hip-hop artists The Cool Kids. Their Coachella performance was quite memorable - they brought supersoakers. As for the EP, it holds up to the standard that has been set by the previously released material.
What Up Man - The drumline on this song is “tick clap, tick tick clap.” At a certain point the bassline kicks in as “bass. bass bass bass bass.” The flow is nice as well.
One Two - What is starting out to be my favorite track of the EP, the track contains a vocal nonsample of “The Safety Dance” and proclaims Chuck and Mikey as “the black version of the Beastie Boys”
Mikey Rocks - This song has been floating around for a long while now, and it holds up over time.
88 - When they did this song live, the call and response was great. Everyone in the audience knew the anthemic “rooftop like we’re bringin 88 back”
What It Is - Another one of the newer tracks, the drums are tinny and sound like something out of the early 90s. Mikey claims he rocks again. The Cool Kids seem to be the master of the ironic lyric, “if looks could kill, she’d be in jail.”
Black Mags - Fuck. Yes.
A Little Bit Cooler - Chuck and Mikey are always cooler than other people. They don’t need to rhyme about it. But they do. And its yet another reason why they’re cooler.
Gold And A Pager - Chuck’s voice seems an octave too low. But its not a bad thing. By now everyone should know this song, its made its internet rounds.
Bassment Party - If you ain’t got no money, take your broke ass home. Another live favorite, the track. This time, Chuck tells you that Mikey rocks. Mikey rocks count now at 3 (not including repetitions in Mikey Rocks).
Jingling - Delightfully referential. “Motor City technically like Rasheed Wallace, them move to Chicago for money like Ben Wallace.” Its a non-rhyme, but hell, any basketball follower will enjoy this. Maybe. Maybe not.
We also have two bonus tracks courtesy of gowherehiphop.com
Chicago Zoo - Not my favorite, but probably why its a bonus track.
That\’ll Work - Its pretty much the same Cool Kids formula you know by now, but still enjoyable.
