Combining just about every meme ever, Weezer’s new video for Pork And Beans is truly delightful. The song ain’t half bad either. “Timbaland knows the way to the top of the charts. Maybe if I work with him I can perfect the art.”
It is really good to see Weezer back after a long hiatus, way to go boys!

I have decided it’s summer. Sometimes it is 100 degrees out, therefore it is summer. Therefore school is over. Not technically, but school should be over. Anyways, I have decided to put together a little summer mix of some summer-ish songs. Some of these have nothing to do with summer, but I like them so who gives a shit?
That was my fat man with mustache approves picture. Anyways the tracklist goes like this:
The Bloody Beetroots- We Are From Venice (La Serenissima)
The Roots- Rising Up (Featuring Wale & Chrisette Michele)
Usher- Love In This Club (MSTRKRFT Remix)
Izza Kizza- Walk The Dawg (Feat. Missy Elliot)
Spank Rock & Benny Blanco- Pu$$y
Coldplay- Violet Hill
Lupe Fiasco- Go Baby (feat. Gemstones)
Ratatat- Shiller
Flo-Rida- Low Low Low (B.Cause Bad For Me Rework)
Tokyo Police Club- Your English Is Good
The Cool Kids- A Little Bit Cooler
Santogold- I’m A Lady (feat. Trouble Andrew)
Jay-Z (Feat. Beyonce)- Pray
Mickey Factz- K-1 Attack (Feat. Nakim)
M.I.A. (Feat. Battles & Akon)- Boyz (Diplo Remix)
Wale- W.A.L.E.D.A.N.C.E.

Not only is the bake sale an everyday commodity at Oakwood School, but its also a new EP by up and coming Chicago hip-hop artists The Cool Kids. Their Coachella performance was quite memorable - they brought supersoakers. As for the EP, it holds up to the standard that has been set by the previously released material.
What Up Man - The drumline on this song is “tick clap, tick tick clap.” At a certain point the bassline kicks in as “bass. bass bass bass bass.” The flow is nice as well.
One Two - What is starting out to be my favorite track of the EP, the track contains a vocal nonsample of “The Safety Dance” and proclaims Chuck and Mikey as “the black version of the Beastie Boys”
Mikey Rocks - This song has been floating around for a long while now, and it holds up over time.
88 - When they did this song live, the call and response was great. Everyone in the audience knew the anthemic “rooftop like we’re bringin 88 back”
What It Is - Another one of the newer tracks, the drums are tinny and sound like something out of the early 90s. Mikey claims he rocks again. The Cool Kids seem to be the master of the ironic lyric, “if looks could kill, she’d be in jail.”
A Little Bit Cooler - Chuck and Mikey are always cooler than other people. They don’t need to rhyme about it. But they do. And its yet another reason why they’re cooler.
Gold And A Pager - Chuck’s voice seems an octave too low. But its not a bad thing. By now everyone should know this song, its made its internet rounds.
Bassment Party - If you ain’t got no money, take your broke ass home. Another live favorite, the track. This time, Chuck tells you that Mikey rocks. Mikey rocks count now at 3 (not including repetitions in Mikey Rocks).
Jingling - Delightfully referential. “Motor City technically like Rasheed Wallace, them move to Chicago for money like Ben Wallace.” Its a non-rhyme, but hell, any basketball follower will enjoy this. Maybe. Maybe not.

There are just some things that slip through the cracks of the blogs of the internets and I am happy to have found a few to be proud of. Why does no one tell me when We Are Terrorists puts out new tunes? I love those guys. The track is as banging as usual for them, guitar like stabs with heaps of distortion, french vocals I can’t understand, and ear puncturing drums and synths. Perfect.
The bigger shocker here is that no one told me about possibly the greatest thing I have found all month. A chiptune/electro remix of We’re From Barcelona by I’m From Barcelona. The genius that is Adventurekid has taken the most hand clap happy, sing along, feel good song and turned it into an equally as powerful if not more adorable 8 bit bopping rework. And to top it off he’s done it live (check out the myspace for amazing videos of such a show. Think I’m From Barcelona, on stage in a crazy Swedish chiptune dance party)
Just thought I’d keep you guys up to date on these crucial issues.

Two mega-hits for you today! First up is an Islands first, a recorded version of Where There’s A Will There’s A Whalebone, one of my personal favorite Islands songs, but sans guest rapper. As some of you may remember, the coachella performance of the song was bolstered by the guest appearance of Busdriver, but in the Daytrotter studio there were no such surprises. You can grab the song and the others from that session at
Often considered the greatest home-recording of all time and recorded when the artist was a mere ten years old, this rare cut highlights the vocal ingenuity and technical prowess that would launch him into the stratosphere with successive #1 albums At the Sleepover and For Harold, Forever Ago

First we have John Williams’ “The Imperial March.” Some may know it as the Star Wars Darth Vader introduction, some may know it because it was Swine Forkbeard’s intro. Either way it makes me feel extra nerdy whenever I rock out to it, therefore… Guilty!
Last we have ourselves “Leggy Blonde” by Flight of the Conchords. Not only is this song completely ridiculous, it reminds me of Murray from Flight of the Conchords and that makes me laugh. He is a silly, silly man.

Hour of the Shipwreck is a five member band consisting of RICHIE KOHAN - 12 String Guitar, Vocals, BARBARA GRUSKA - Drums, Vocals (Jenny Lewis, The Watson Twins, Inara George, Mike Andrews), MARCEL CAMARGO - Guitars, Mandolin, Orchestra Bells, Vocals (The Watson Twins, Inara George, Airto Moreira), AARON ARNTZ - Wind Organ, Keyboards, Bells, Orchestra Bells, Vocals (Zappa Plays Zappa), and GABE NOEL - Bass. They play a mix of dreamy pirate rock and Danny Elfman inspired music. Their CD was officially released tonight. They played a show at the party and I was lucky enough to witness one of the greatest rock performances I have ever seen. Not only are they great performers but their new CD rules. “If they don’t get famous off this album there is something wrong with the world”-Sam Kauffman-Skloff. Now I’ll highlight some of my favorite songs on the new album.
This next one does something amazing, they are able to take a heavy solo and put it against a piece of music that is slow and beautiful. Hour Of The Shipwreck-Save The World
These are undoubtedly the hardest rocking songs on the album. I honestly have nothing to say about this album besides it being great. So if your into these tracks you can purchase the album on their myspace.
