Coachella I Love You, But You’re Bringing Me Down

I do love you Coachella, but I have to take point with your set time scheduling on a few points. Here is a link to my Coachella schedule as chosen by the “Coachooser.” There are some great times, and some bad times. Let’s take a look.

Here we have a not so fun conflict between the Raconteurs, the National and Diplo. I’m probably edging towards Diplo, as he seems to be able to provide the most fun.

Next we have the Saturday afternoon clusterfuck. I’ll probably end up jumping back and forth between all three tents to my heart’s content. I have seen Jens and might avoid him at the festival just because I don’t think the environment is right for him. I would actually prefer to see him and Cut Copy swap tents.

This is Saturday evening. More clusterfucks. Kraftwerk, M.I.A. and Animal Collective all playing pretty much simultaneously. This is the biggest problem I have with the festival right now. I’ll probably end up splitting time between M.I.A. and Kraftwerk because of stage placement. I love that M.I.A. is in the Sahara (Hot Chip too), as I feared both would be placed on the dreaded outdoor theater. Animal Collective is the kind of band I’d rather see on the Coachella stage at dusk/night. Similar to Arcade Fire last year. Just to be able to lay on the grass and chill.

This is the one thing Coachella definitely got right. I have little to no interest in Roger Waters, so having Sunday’s top four electro acts play opposite him is an act of god. SMD, Chromeo and then Justice will just rock the tent until I can’t stand.
All in all though, the Coachella lineup rocks, and they honestly did the best they could with the slots they were allowed to give. This year I probably will barely be at the stages, definitely more centered on the tents. Have fun if you are going, and I’m sorry to those who aren’t. I mean that in the least condescending way possible. Hope to see you there next year.

let me help you out. i understand the first one but that the raconteurs are even in there… the second one is pretty simple as well – midnight juggers, battles, dan, jens, cut copy. you can miss the first few minutes of the jens set, since he doesn’t warm up very quickly, and then…SKIP ED BANGER OH NOES. yes, this is my plan, considering i had a 4 hour set of them at detour and have enough for the rest of my life. also the crowd at ed banger sets will be awful. i’m seeing mehdi for a long time on friday too so its not like i’m missing out hugely. next: hot chip, islands, AC, portishead. i don’t know where you got the idea that animal collective is a chill out on the grass band – this is going to be a fucking party in a tent and i want to come out facemelted. MIA… once again overcrowded because of paper planes, then fools will leave. also animal collective eats their asses. now kraftwerk i understand, but i’m not a big fan so if you went to the beginning of kraftwerk and caught the end of AC that could work. that’s it. problem solved.
